Why it's on the list

This is where you see what people in the Banat actually eat each season, and buy straight from the growers.

About the place

The market used to be called the Hay Market (Piața de Fân) and is one of the city's daily markets. Stalls change with the season: tomatoes and peppers in summer, cabbage and pumpkins in autumn, cheese and smoked meat all year.

It is a neighbourhood market used by locals, not an attraction set up for tourists. Early morning has the widest choice, and by midday stalls start to empty.

Good to know

  • Come in the morning, ideally before 10, for the best choice.
  • Bring small cash; not every vendor takes cards.
  • Taste the cheese before buying; vendors usually offer.

Opening hours

Opening hours are not confirmed. Check the venue's website before you go.
