It shows a less polished Timișoara, with old buildings at different stages of renovation.
About the place
Fabric grew up beside the Bega as an area of workshops, mills and factories, and today has many early 20th-century buildings. Traian Square is the heart of the district, and the Timișoreana brewery is nearby.
The Fabric Synagogue, at 2 Ion Luca Caragiale Street, has been run by the City Hall since 2023. Safety works are under way, supported by the World Monuments Fund, to turn it into a cultural and community space. For now it can only be seen from outside.
Good to know
- Start at Traian Square and walk to the synagogue, about 400 metres away.
- The synagogue is not open for visits; view the facade from the street.
- Reach it from the old town by tram or in 20 minutes on foot along the Bega.
