It is the image of Lugoj and joins the two historic halves of the town.
About the place
The bridge opened in August 1902, replacing a wooden bridge demolished a year earlier. For 35 years it was the only river crossing in town.
The structure has two spans of 33.68 metres each and steel truss girders. From the bridge you see Drăgan Square, the former Prefecture and the towers of the Greek Catholic cathedral.
Good to know
- The best view of the bridge is from the Timiș riverbank.
- Start a walk here towards Victory Square and the two-towered church.
- The history museum is right at the end of the bridge, on Strada Bălcescu.
