It is the most imposing old building in town and appears on Lugoj's seal of 1793.
About the place
The church was built between 1759 and 1766 with money raised by Romanian parishioners led by the local leader Gavril Gureanu. Its plan resembles that of Timișoara's Roman Catholic Dome, designed by Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach.
The nave is about 42 metres long and the two towers reach 57 metres. The founder's portrait is on the east wall of the nave. The church is a listed monument and still in use.
