It is one of the longest colonnades of its kind in Europe and the main reason to visit Buziaș.
About the place
The colonnade was built in 1875 by the Timiș Catholic Religious Fund, then owner of the baths. In 1936 the Muschong company extended it by 117 metres. The carved wood, with vaults and cupolas, is in neo-Byzantine style.
It decayed after 1989 and was restored between 2016 and 2019 with EU funds, at a cost of more than 5 million lei. The floor was relaid in fired brick, as originally.
Good to know
- Walk it end to end, about 15 minutes at a slow pace.
- It works in the rain too, since it is covered.
- Don't climb on the railings; the wood is fragile.
